With Black Friday approaching and the Xmas season right around the corner, it's time to think of what I'd like to receive this year. I found the coolest gadget (maybe I missed the memo) while buying some racing books online this week called the Kindle. It's a wireless reading device sold by Amazon (I'm sure other companies have similar?) weighing about 10 ounces that you can wirelessly deliver to you books, blogs, magazines, newspapers and Wikipedia all within about a minute of time. It is a tad pricy at $359, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to use, doesn't require a hotspot, doesn't have a montly service fee, touts a long battery life, and doesn't require a computer, cabling or syncing.
Being a middle-aging love to read kinda guy, I was worried that my failing eyesight (see cheater glasses) might be a reason to pause before investing, but under the product description here's what they say:"We designed Kindle to provide an exceptional reading experience. Thanks
Hmm, they seem to address every concern or reason not to invest. I'm pretty technologically challenged, although I have created a Facebook page and blog, so I am tentative when it comes to these types of purchases (which is why it would be a great gift..hint hint). The thing I would miss is the nice book library I have amassed of various racing and business books in the Space Den. Something to think about on a rainy Buffalo day.
to electronic paper, a revolutionary new display technology, reading
Kindle’s screen is as sharp and natural as reading ink on paper—and nothing
like the strain and glare of a computer screen. Kindle is also easy on the
fingertips. It never becomes hot and is designed for ambidextrous use so
both "lefties" and "righties" can read comfortably at any angle for long
periods of time."

Kindle-ing

As a person in the same age demographic as you I look at the Kindle with a mix of both amazement and fear-It looks like a great idea-but I can barely post and edit correctly on my own blog, Facebook is as confusing as Physics to me-and there is still something to be said for the feel of paper in your hand and ink stains on the fingertips.
