Webcast/TV Info

The Congressional Hearings are scheduled to be televised on C-SPAN3 and also there is a webcast at this web address. One change on the witness list already.

Ed Whitfield, ranking member of the Subcommittee was on Washington Journal this morning on C-SPAN, and said that Democrat Bobby Rush (Chair) is the one who called the hearings. When asked what is the best policy that could come out of the hearings, Whitfield said, "Minimum Federal standards with significant penalties." When asked why Congress is spending time on this when there are other more pressing issues (i.e. War, Gasoline Prices), he stated that "our committee is the only one that has jurisdiction over sports," and that it is "a $40 billion industry" with significant issues that have come to the forefront to "people on the floor, who never focused on the issues" until Eight Belles death.
