- Congrats to the Celts, who finished off the Lake Show last night for #17...been a long time coming since the Len Bias tragedy. They were the dominant team of the 80's while in my college daze...
- Interesting to see the industry scrambling to look like a unified front before tomorrow's congressional hearings. They've called some very smart folks to testify and hopefully they'll hold off government intervention. If anything, it has forced some sort of unification that will lead to the banning of steroids, etc.
- Could he be baaack?? Looks like Bob Baffert may have something in his barn worth watching.
- Did anyone really think anyone other than the horseplayer was going to pay for the NYCOTB bailout by New York State? Not with everyone's hand out and no one wanted to lose what they think is rightfully theirs...Screwed again.
- The mainstream sports rely on huge television money (i.e. advertising dough) to generate interest and increase purses, athlete salaries and the like. Horse racing is a second tier (maybe third tier) sport that needs something to keep the public interested after the Triple Crown season. The TBA's point system and standings, if implemented nationally for determining annual winners in the different divisions could accomplish this. It would be similar to the Sprint Cup (formerly Winston Cup) in NASCAR and last year golf experimented with a similar point standings for their FedEx Cup. These are two sports that have experienced tremendous growth in this decade...doesn't it make sense that we try the same?
- First post at Saratoga is five weeks from today! Giddyup!
- I'm starting to get worried about this report that says drinking beer can turn me into a woman.
- Quote of the Day: "The true secret of giving advice is, after you have honestly given it, to be perfectly indifferent whether it is taken or not, and never persist in trying to set people right." - Hannah Whitall Smith

But as an already-female beer enthusiast, what does this mean for me? Horrors!
