DWL, Will Take Charge and Oxbow |
I arrived on the Churchill backside this morning after driving through the night from the B-lo to start my assignment for The Buffalo News this weekend. We're going on fumes at the moment after a busy morning and afternoon at the track.
I thought
Revolutionary,
Verrazano and
Black Onyx all looked spectacular on the track this morning. I spent some time at the Baffert barn checking in on
Govenor Charlie. Baffert said he is considering the Preakness for him and is also looking forward to
Code West's race on Saturday (the 6th), since he declared from the Derby.
To catch you up on some posts over at the Sports, Ink blog at TBN, here are some links from the last few days:
- The
post draw on Wednesday.
- My
Kentucky Oaks preview this morning.
- A post on
wet track considerations should the rain currently forecast at 70 percent hit Louisville on Saturday.
In addition to my print and online duties I participated on a
radio interview with The Fan 1270 AM in Buffalo with Rich "The Bull" Gaenzler. This is the new Buffalo sports station that is rivaling WGR 550 for the Buffalo sports scene. It was fun talking Derby with Rich and the segment can be found here (and starts at the 1:25 mark).
Here are a few more pictures from this morning:
