One of the things I love to take a crack at on Derby Day is the Exacta. Over the last ten years the $2 payout has averaged a whopping $1,547.80. Even if you throw out four of the boxcar years of 2009, 2005, 2002 and 2001 the $2 exacta paid an average of $176. So it's a good one to take a stab at on Derby Day.
I also just realized in discussing the departure of the favorite, that I made only one future bet this year (Pool 3) and it was a $1 exacta box of Lookin at Lucky, Dublin and All Others. Which means for the cost of $6, I have an exacta box that also includes in the All Others category the following horses: Line of David, Mission Impazible, Stately Victor, Endorsement, American Lion, Devil May Care, Dean's Kitten and Paddy O'Prado. Here's a rundown of the last ten year's of exacta winners and $2 payouts:

Only in 2004 did the top two choices finish 1-2 in the exacta, but it still paid pretty decent for $2. So what are some of our options for the 2010 Derby exacta??

I love the exacta. It is the only bet you don't have to spread to have any confidence in cashing.
