Until Next Year....

It is only fitting that Val from Foolish Pleasure was the outright winner in my inaugural Toga Contest with a win in the Hopeful Stakes to secure a point for the jockey wins (Garcia). See, Foolish Pleasure in 1974 won the Hopeful Stakes as a promising bay 2yo colt! Congrats Val! You win a lifetime supply of kudos (as well as some serious bragging rights). Nice work by second place finisher Dana from GbG, who needed Cribnote to not go so wide 'round at the Top of the Stretch, which would have secured a tie-break victory. Thanks for playing! I will make some revisions to the tourney as it was difficult to select winners not knowing who would be entered on Travers weekend and who knew they would cancel races on 8/8/08? But not bad that it came down to the 10th race on the last day to decide the winner. Anyways, thanks to everyone who participated and any suggestions are whole-heartedly welcomed. On to Belmont and a couple ShowDown entries....

Congrats to Val and excellent note re: Foolish Pleasure in the Hopeful!

I can't complain about Cribnote, he brought home the exacta for me and let me go out cashing a nice little ticket.

Great contest... looking forward to next years!

Nice contest-congrats to Val!. I actually kept score of the Garcia/McLaughlin/jockey/trainer wins at the Spa yesterday as I knew it would come down to the final races.

For next year, we should pick the Travers once the nominations are in to make it more interesting. Also maybe consider adding in a entry for Woodward Winner, Hopeful Winner and total attendance of the meet.

I love these things (even though I was tied for last)-must be the gambler in me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you :)

I was sweating Garcia's wins, especially as he appeared to be trying too hard on Sunday. Should have thought to play Kiaran instead of Mott given that Garcia rides for him. How many wins did Mott have--one? Talk about ice-cold!

Fun contest! We should definitely do one for the BC too.

Congrats again.

Robert - excellent suggestions, management is taking them under advisement!

Re: Breeders' Cup contest, I'd be glad to do it, unless Handride wants it out on the main site...
